Say Abisko and Swedish Lapland and images of a pristine mountain landscape, Arctic wildlife, dog sledding and the aluring northern lights soon come to mind. This photo tour brings it all to life! Lonely Planet rank Abisko as the number one location in the world to see the northern lights and the small village Abisko in Swedish Lapland is without a doubt unrivalled the best place on Earth to experience the aurora borealis.
We offer a 5 day photo tour around Abisko with one of Sweden’s best astrophotographers Göran Strand. The tour includes northern lights, astro and landscape photography with opportunities for moose photography. We go dog sledding into Abisko National Park and if the weather permits we also go over to Norway’s fantastic fjords. We live and eat well at Abisko Mountain Lodge and always have access to snow mobile, AWD minibus, all photo equipment incl. tripod to increase your chances of coming home with the images you dreamed of.

All previous participants have seen the northern lights
We are pleased that all our multi-day guests since we started in 2012 (c. 75 groups) have seen and photographed the northern lights in beautiful environments and thus we are probably the most successful northern lights guiding company in the world. We are also happy to be the best rated aurora tour provider in Sweden and the winner of the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence Award 2014-2019. Read previous guest reviews of our tours on TripAdvisor. Welcome to take a tour with us!
Nature, culture and photo guiding
Göran Strand has worked with photography since the early 1990s and guided various photography groups for several years, not only for the northern lights, but also for astrophotography and total solar eclipses. In recent years he has worked with Bonnier publications in Denmark as a photo guide on their total solar eclipse tours and has extensive knowledge of Arctic nature, culture and natural phenomena. He regularly teaches photography students at the high school about astrophotography and various celestial phenomena and holds several public lectures each year. So expect that you get a good overview not only of photography but also more knowledge of the Arctic nature and natural phenomena.
We have the photo equipment for you

- After a relaxed breakfast, it is time to check out from your hotel. Ideally we see that your flight does not take off until the earliest at lunch so that we can take a slow ride towards Kiruna and if something nice turns up along the way we stop for photography. If you choose an early flight, we can arrange a transfer at an extra cost. But maybe you choose to stay an extra night in Abisko or Kiruna. In this case, we will help you book your accommodation and activities.
